I am not terribly happy with this test animation. But I think I can make it more seamless when I do the real stop motion. I am planning on renting a studio for a day to shoot all the green screens. That way with even lighting, the toys will be easier to key. I am still a couple months away yet. I want to have a complete rough cut before I spend the time doing the stop motion correctly. At this stage, I need to do a big re-write to my script. So I will probably be adding and subtracting scenes. I am having a hard time writing for a very young audience. Right now, the script is a little too complex for little kids, and a little too hokey for anyone over the age of three. So that's not a good mixture. We'll see what tomorrow brings.
Going to the Artichoke Festival tomorrow, so I get a whole half day off from all of this.
Cheers!

Sunday
Today I spent most of the day dealing with the plastic animals. I did one stop-motion map test, then went to Toys R Us to find plastic animals I am missing. I have been buying plastic toys over the last couple years, but I am still missing a few key pieces. Plus I discovered that I am going to need bigger toys for the main domesticated animals. So I ordered a bunch online today.
I have also uploaded a few more test clips. I am meeting with two animators next week, so I want to have some video to show them.
I am still trying to decide if I am going to re-write, and make it first person zebra, instead of voice of god style. I can't wait to have someone else narrate it. I had a cold when I did the scratch narration.

Green Screen Toy Test
I have made a rudimentary attempt at stop motion animation and green screening toys for my kid's film about animal domestication. I know the chroma key needs a lot of work (not to mention the stop motion is lame). Once I find affordable green screen software, I will make another attempt at toy stop motion with proper lighting and more frames per second.
I just won a fellowship to a Natural History film festival, so next month I am going to the Jackson Hole to get some information and inspiration.
For now, I have borrowed some kid's songs from http://www.songsforteaching.com/index.html to play under my green screen test.
The toys in the film will eventually make the point that cows eat a lot of grass and in turn, carnivores eat a helluvalotta cows!
